The Philadelphia Flyers announced Steve Mason will make his first start in goal for the team Tuesday when it faces the New York Islanders.

Mason, acquired at the NHL Trade Deadline in exchange for Michael Leighton and a 2015 draft pick, made his Flyers debut Saturday against the Winnipeg Jets in relief of Ilya Bryzgalov. Mason stopped all nine shots he faced in the third period of the Flyers' 4-1 loss.

It will be Mason's first start since March 29, his second since March 1.
