Report: Jackets would deal first-rounder for scorer

Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen is willing to part with one of his three first-round picks before the trade deadline Wednesday in an effort to get more scoring into the lineup, according to a tweet from Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.

The Blue Jackets own their first-round pick plus first-round picks that originally belonged to the Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers. They picked up the Kings' pick in the trade for Jeff Carter last season, and they got the Rangers' pick in the trade for Rick Nash in the offseason.

Columbus is eighth in the Western Conference with 37 points. The Blue Jackets have won two in a row and are 10-2-5 since Feb. 26.
