Injury keeping Lecavalier off the ice

Vincent Lecavalier wouldn't give much detail on exactly what his lower-body injury is, but said it's keeping him off the ice.

"It's more of a waiting game and waiting and rest it," the Tampa Bay Lightning captain told reporters in Tampa on Monday. "I can still do some other stuff. Skating right now is not a possibility."

Lecavalier will miss his third straight game since when his Lightning host the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday (7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, TSN, RDS). He sustained the injury during a March 12 game against the Florida Panthers.

"It didn't look like anything but obviously something did happen," he said. "I guess you could say it's kind of a fluky thing. … I knew something was wrong right away. I went to the bench, might have played another shift after [but I] knew something was wrong."

Lecavalier has seven goals and 15 assists in 26 games, and said not being able to help the team climb back into the Stanley Cup Playoff race is tough. The Lightning enter the week 12th in the Eastern Conference, six points behind the eighth-place Carolina Hurricanes.

"Definitely disappointing [to be out], especially to be in the situation we're in right now, fighting for the playoffs," Lecavalier said. "Nothing but kind of a little bit of a waiting game. Work out hard, be ready to play when I'm ready."
