Jonathan Bernier reportedly was the first goalie off the ice at the Los Angeles Kings' morning skate Friday, meaning it's likely Bernier will start against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
It would be his first back-to-back starts under coach Darryl Sutter, who talked about the need for better goaltending Thursday.
Jonathan Quick is 1-3-1 in his past five starts and let in some soft goals in his prior start Sunday, including the game-winner in the final seconds against the Detroit Red Wings.
"We want to be a playoff team," Sutter said. "We need a goalie to get hot, not get patted on the back. … This team rode a hot goalie last year. They didn't do it before. You know what? We're in the same thing again. We need one to get hot."
Los Angeles recalled defenseman Andrew Campbell after Alec Martinez went on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, but Sutter said Jake Muzzin will take the place of Martinez, at least for Friday.
Here is the lineup the Kings likely will use:
Simon Gagne - Anze Kopitar - Dustin Brown
Kyle Clifford - Jeff Carter - Justin Williams
Dwight King - Mike Richards - Jordan Nolan
Dustin Penner - Jarret Stoll - Trevor Lewis
Scratched: Andrew Campbell, Colin Fraser, Brad Richardson
Injured: Alec Martinez, Matt Greene
