Calgary Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff has a slight Grade 2 MCL sprain and is expected to miss another two weeks, the team announced Tuesday.

Kiprusoff appeared to suffer the injury near the end of the second period of a Feb. 5 game against the Detroit Red Wings when he and Johan Franzen collided near the net.

The Flames claimed veteran goalie Joey MacDonald off waivers from the Red Wings and it appears will use him in tandem with rookie Leland Irving in Kiprusoff's absence.

"I really like what Leland has done," Calgary general manager Jay Feaster said of Irving, who is 1-1-1 with a 2.62 goals-against average and .900 save percentage in four games this season.

Goalie Daniel Taylor, who has one game of NHL experience with the Los Angeles Kings back in 2007-08, was placed on waivers with the intent of reassigning him to Abbotsford of the American Hockey League if he clears.
