Hi everyone!

On Saturday night, we had a great team meal in Omsk. The team went to a restaurant close to the hotel for dinner. It was a traditional Russian restaurant with singing and some people dancing. I even got on the dance floor and showed everyone my moves -- the boys on the team and everyone in the restaurant loved it.

We walked back to the hotel and went to a bed we need our rest for [Sunday].

It is Gold Medal Game Day [Sunday] in Omsk!

We woke up early and had breakfast in the hotel and then jumped on the bus to go to the Omsk Arena for our morning skate. After coming back to the hotel, we went back for our pre-game meal and then had our traditional pre-game nap.

We had a 5 p.m. bus ride to the rink for the Gold Medal game against the USHL's Waterloo Black Hawks. The game was really close!

Through two periods, the score was 0-0, but we were able to take a late lead on a beautiful goal by Josh Leivo just as we finished killing a penalty.

After Leivo's, goal we got a power play of our own and Frank Corrado had a great point shot that found the back of the net to push the lead to 2-0.

It was close through the remainder of the game, but we were able to hang on to win 2-0. It is great to come to Russia and leave as Junior Club World Cup Champions.

My teammates all played great during the past two weeks, everyone contributed to this win and I am really proud of this group. We have a quick turnaround as we leave in the morning and have a very long travel day. We fly from Omsk to Moscow to Paris to Toronto and then most of the team members are taking the bus back to Sudbury. I'm flying back to Ottawa [which is home] for a couple of days before coming back to Sudbury for training camp next Monday.

I hope that you have enjoyed following our trip to Omsk via my blog. I want to thank nhl.com for this great opportunity.

Thanks!
