• In his first Ontario Hockey League season, Sproul led all defensemen and rookies on Sault Ste. Marie in scoring with 14 goals and 33 points in 61 games. He scored 10 goals after January 1, second to only CHL Player of the year Ryan Ellis (12).

• He started the season with Vaughan in the OJHL before deciding to join Sault Ste. Marie – Sproul was cut from Junior A hockey in 2009 and forced to play an extra year of midget.

• A Toronto Junior Canadiens and Vaughan Kings minor hockey product, Sproul started skating at the age of four when his dad took him out on the ice.

• His most memorable hockey moment was scoring his first OHL hat trick “because my parents were there to see it” and if he could trade places with anyone for a day he would choose Alex Ovechkin.
