• On their way to winning the Ontario Hockey League Championship, the Spitfires only lost four games. Ellis was first among defensemen scoring with 31 points and first in the league with 23 assists in 20 playoff games.

• In just his second season with Windsor, Ellis led all defensemen in scoring and finished seventh overall in the Ontario Hockey League with 89 points (22-67-89) in 57 games.

• Helping lead the Spitfires to the OHL’s best record with 57 wins (57-10-0-1), his plus-52 rating ranked second in the league and he was named the Most Outstanding Defenseman in 2008-09.

• A gold medalist with Team Canada at the 2009 World Junior Championships, Ellis was the youngest defenseman to play for Canada since Jay Bouwmeester in 2001, debuting at 17 years of age. He was a plus-six in the tournament, totaling seven points (1-6-7) in six games.

• His 2008-09 season has kept him extremely busy on the ice. He represented the OHL in the 2008 Canada/Russia Challenge, was named to the 2009 Western Conference OHL All-Star Classic and selected to participate in the 2009 CHL Top Prospects Game.

• In the annual OHL Coaches Poll, Ellis was selected first in three Western Conference categories: Smartest Player, Hardest Shot and Best Offensive Defenseman.

• He started skating at the age of four, playing his first hockey game as a member of the Belmont Bombers before going on to play 14 years as a member of the Flamborough Hockey Association.

• He patterns his game after NHL defensemen Brian Rafalski and Kris Russell “because both are considered undersized defensemen and are great offensively as well as responsible in their own end”.

• He wears number six after former Toronto Maple Leaf Ron Ellis and if he could invite any three people to dinner he would choose: Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods and Wayne Gretzky – “I think all are tremendous athletes, leaders and have had major impacts in their respective sports”.

• The most embarrassing song on his iPod is “Incomplete” by Backstreet Boys and his dream car is a “black Cadillac Escalade with big rims”.
