• After a successful regular-season in 2008-09, Barrie helped lead his team to a WHL Championship and the Memorial Cup tournament, recording 18 points (4-14-18) and a plus-18 rating in 22 playoff games.

• In his rookie season, he tallied 34 assists (9-34-43) and was also selected to play for Team Pacific at the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge. Prior to joining Kelowna, he played Midget AAA with the Juan De Fuca Grizzlies and compiled 130 points (43-87-130) in 72 games.

• Is the son of Tampa Bay co-owner and President Len Barrie -- who was drafted in the sixth round (124th overall) by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft and played 184 NHL games with four teams (Philadelphia, Florida, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles). He also played 344 Western Hockey League games and won the scoring title in the 1989-90 season with 185 points (85-100-185) in 70 games.

• His uncle, Mike Barrie, was also drafted -- in 1993 by the Buffalo Sabres (194th overall).

• Barrie spent time with former Rockets Shea Weber (Nashville) and Josh Gorges (Montreal) during his early training camps with the Rockets and was often defense partners with Luke Schenn (Toronto) in 2007-08.

• His childhood hockey idol was Rob Blake – “I got to meet him when my dad played with him and he was an awesome person and great player”.

• If he could invite any three people to dinner he would choose his mom, dad and sister for a good family dinner.
