• In his senior season at Minnetonka High School, and second year as a captain, Gardiner helped lead the team to a Section 6AA Championship and the final game of the state tournament.

• He finished second on the team with 43 points (17-26--43) during the 2009-10 regular season, despite missing eight games with a broken wrist. He also led the team with five points (3-2--5) in the state tournament.

• Gardiner has committed to the University of Minnesota.

• His older brother, Jake, was drafted 17th overall in 2008 by the Anaheim Ducks – Jake plays at the University of Wisconsin and won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2010 World Junior Championships.

• Gardiner was one of 10 finalists for the Mr. Hockey Award which is given to the most outstanding senior high school hockey player in the state of Minnesota and he has been working out regularly in the off-season with fellow Minnesota-area draft prospects including: Nick Bjugstad (No. 13 ranked), Tyler Pitlick (No. 18 ranked) and Justin Holl (No. 47 ranked).
