• Basaraba has committed to the University of Minnesota Duluth for the fall of 2010.

• In his second season with Shattuck St. Mary’s, he finished tied for seventh on the team with 46 points while his 24 goals ranked fourth on the team. The Sabres finished the year 45-12-4 and won their first three games at the Under-18 Tier I Nationals before they lost to Russell Stover in the quarter-finals.

• He played for Fort Frances’ Minor Hockey Association before attending Shattuck St. Mary’s for the 2007-08 season.

• Basaraba started skating at the age of three on the outdoor rink his father built and his childhood hockey idol was his older brother, Matt, because “he always gave me an opportunity to play with him and his friends which challenged me to play better”.
