• In 2008-09, Silas was named the Bulls’ Rookie of the Year as he played on the blueline alongside P.K. Subban (43rd overall, by Montreal in 2007) and Shawn Lalonde (68th overall, by Chicago in 2008).

• He was drafted in the first round (19th overall) in the OHL priority selection after he won a gold medal with Team Ontario at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and completed his Midget AAA season with Halton.

• Silas got his start in hockey at the age of four after he began public skating and he credits his uncle, Peter, for having a big impact on his career for helping him believe in his abilities.
