• Johnson was named to the 2018-19 USHL All-Rookie Team after collecting 25 points with the Clark Cup champion Sioux Falls Stampede (6-19—25 in 54 GP). His six goals, 19 assists and 25 points this season ranked second among Stampede defensemen, behind only No. 85-ranked North American skater Maxwell Crozier (10-33—43 in 60 GP).

• Johnson, who played minor hockey with the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, can become the 11th California-born player to be selected within the first two rounds of the NHL Draft and appear in at least one NHL game – a feat Rik Wilson (Long Beach, Calif.) was the first to accomplish when he was chosen by St. Louis with the 12th overall pick in 1980.

• His father, Craig Johnson, was drafted 33rd overall by the St. Louis Blues in 1990 and played 10 NHL seasons with the Blues, Kings, Ducks, Maple Leafs and Capitals (75-98—173 in 557 GP).

• Johnson, who has committed to the University of Minnesota for the 2019-20 season, models his style of play after Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith.
