• He represented the U.S. at the 2011 Under-18 Ivan Hlinka tournament in August 2010. He stopped 23 of 24 shots faced (the only goal was scored by No. 1 ranked Ryan Nugent-Hopkins), helping the U.S. earn a silver medal and record the best finish in the tournament since 2006 with a 3-0-1-1 overall record.
You forget how good [Nieuwendyk] was. You hear the points and stuff and you almost forget until they kind of walk you through his career, and that was really cool for me. I might have felt it a little more than some of the other guys because he was one of my favorites growing up, but that was very cool and I'm honored to have been a part of it.
