• Simpson recorded his first WHL shutout in his first career start, stopping 28 shots and being named the first star of the game.

• He is coached in Everett by former NHL coach Craig Hartsburg and was a member of Team Canada at the 2010 Under-18 World Championship as well as Team Pacific at the 2008 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

• Simpson, who was the last pick of the first round (22nd overall) in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft, patterns his game after Cam Ward because “he has a good butterfly, plays very efficiently and is very composed.”

• Away from the rink, the 2009-2010 Everett Silvertips Scholastic Player of the Year Award winner, also enjoys playing golf and the guitar.
