• Oettinger appeared in 35 games with Boston University as a freshman in 2016-17 and compiled a record of 21-11-3 (2.11 GAA, .927 SV%, 4 SO). His save percentage of .927 was tied with Collin Delia of Merrimack College for highest in the Hockey East conference.
• Oettinger made 56 saves to backstop the Terriers to a 4-3 double-overtime victory over the University of North Dakota to open the 2017 Frozen Four tournament.
• The 2016-17 season saw Oettinger named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. Other notable NHL goaltenders to receive the honor: Jimmy Howard (2002-03), Cory Schneider (2004-05), Ben Bishop (2005-06) and Connor Hellebuyck (2012-13).
