• Kakko scored 22 goals to lead TPS and rank tied for sixth overall in the Finnish Elite League this season (22-16—38 in 45 GP). His 22 goals set a record for most by a draft-eligible prospect in Finland's top league, surpassing Aleksander Barkov’s previous mark of 21 in 2012-13 (selected 2nd overall by Florida in 2013).

• A three-time gold medalist internationally, Kakko recorded 2-3—5 in 7 games as a member of Team Finland's gold medal-winning entry at the 2019 World Junior Championship and 4-6—10 in 7 games at the 2018 Under-18 World Championship. He capped his 2018-19 season as Finland's leading goal scorer (6-1—7 in 10 GP) to help his country earn gold at the 2019 World Championship.

• Per the IIHF, at 18 years of age Kakko became the youngest player to win gold at the Under-18, World Junior and World Championships – besting Connor McDavid who won all three by age 19.

• A player from Finland has been selected among the top three picks in each of the previous three years: Patrik Laine (No. 2 in 2016), Miro Heiskanen (No. 3 in 2017) and Jesperi Kotkaniemi (No. 3 in 2018). Entering 2019, no Finnish-born player has ever been drafted first overall.

• Growing up in Turku, Kakko was a regular at TPS games where he was a fan of current NHLers Mikko Rantanen and Rasmus Ristolainen. He models his game after Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews.
