• Brannstrom posted 1-5—6 in 35 games with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League in 2016-17, helping the club capture their fifth Le Mat Trophy as league champions.
• Brannstrom also posted 9-14—23 in the regular season (19 GP) and 3-4—7 in the playoffs (7 GP) as captain of the HV71 junior team. He led all blueliners in postseason goals, assists and points and earned Best Defenseman honors.
• Brannstrom made his SHL debut in 2015-16, appearing in three games with HV71. He added 8-22—30 (41 GP) with the junior team that season.
• Internationally, Brannstrom represented Sweden at the 2017 Under-18 World Championship (2-3—5 in 7 GP) and at the 2016 Under-18 World Championship (1-3—4 in 7 GP), where he won a silver medal. He also captained Sweden to a bronze medal at the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge (3-0—3 in 6 GP) and represented his country twice at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial.
• His father, Niklas, collected 82-84—166 in 341 career SHL games and represented Sweden at the 1990 World Junior Championship (5-1—6 in 7 GP). His older brother, Isac, also plays for HV71.
