• Despite an ankle injury shortening his season to just 53 games, Landeskog led Kitchener with 36 goals and a plus-27 rating. In the first round of the 2011 playoffs he led the Rangers forwards with ten points (6-4--10) in the seven-game series loss to Plymouth.

• At 17-years old, he was the youngest player in 30 years to be named Captain of the Kitchener Rangers and was the first European Captain in the 48-year history of the Rangers franchise. His leadership experience extends most of his career – he wore the ‘C’ for Sweden’s under-16, under-17, and under-18 teams, and he even captained Djurgarden at the age of six.

• Landeskog debuted in the Swedish Elite League in 2008-09 at 16 years and 90 days making him the youngest player in Djurgarden’s history -- he played three games, recording one assist. His dad, Tony, a defenseman, also played in the Swedish Elite League for Hammarby (1977-1985).

• He competed for Sweden at the 2009 World Under-18 Championship, finishing second on the team in goals (4) and was selected to compete in the 2009 Under-20 Four Nations Tournament in Finland.

• His hockey idol growing up was two-time Stanley Cup champion, Peter Forsberg. He admired his overall completeness as both a physical player and a skilled player – two traits often associated with Landeskog’s game today.

• Going on to the ice with his skate guards on in front of 6,000 people in Kitchener is his most embarrassing hockey moment and one often unknown fact about Gabriel is that he has a fraternal twin sister, Beatrice.
