• MacLeod grew up a huge fan of the Boston University Terriers and will attend the school this fall, fulfilling a dream that has its roots in a sibling rivalry with his older brother, Chris, a Boston College fan: “Even when we were younger, we were BC vs. BU. We would watch the Beanpot and wear each [respective team’s] jersey. It was pretty intense.”
• Known for his hard-nosed, shutdown defensive play, MacLeod compiled 11 points (5-6—11) with the U.S. Under-18 team in 2013-14, his second season with the U.S. National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
• He captained Team USA to a bronze medal at the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and won a gold medal with the team at the 2014 Under-18 World Championship, where he tallied three points (2-1—3) in seven games.
• In 2011-12, MacLeod was paired with Doyle Somerby (drafted 125th overall by the New York Islanders in 2012) on the Kimball Union Academy blueline as the team posted a 25-4-3 regular-season. The Wildcats went on to capture the New England prep small school title, with MacLeod posting two assists in the team’s 3-2 overtime victory in the championship game.
