• As a freshman at Boston University, Eichel won the Hobey Baker Award, leading all NCAA Division I skaters with 71 points (26-45—71) in 40 games. He is just the second freshman to earn the award and first since Paul Kariya led the University of Maine to the national championship in 1992-93.

• He helped lead the Terriers to their first conference title in six years and was named Most Valuable Player at the Hockey East Tournament before recording 2-3—5 in four NCAA Tournament games, with Boston University falling to Providence College in the championship game.

• Among the other accolades Eichel earned in 2014-15, he was named Hockey East Player of the Year, Hockey East Rookie of the Year, the Tim Taylor Award as the nation’s outstanding freshman and was the only unanimous first-team Hockey East All-Star selection.

• Skating for the U.S. at the 2015 World Championship, Eichel finished third on the bronze medal-winning squad with 2-5—7 in 10 games. That included the overtime goal with 28 seconds remaining in a 5-4 victory over Slovakia in the preliminary round.

• Internationally, Eichel also won gold with Team USA at the 2014 Under-18 World Junior Championship, where he tied Sonny Milano (selected 16th overall by CBJ in 2014) for the team lead with 10 points (5-5—10) in seven games. He also earned silver at the 2013 Under-18 World Junior Championship and participated for the U.S. at the World Junior Championship in 2014 (1-4—5 in 5 GP) and 2015 (1-3—4 in 5 GP).

• In 2013-14, Eichel led the U.S. Under-18 team that featured Milano, Alex Tuch (selected 18th overall by MIN in 2014) and Dylan Larkin (selected 15th overall by DET in 2014) with 87 points (38-49—87) in 53 games and was named to the United States Hockey League Second All-Star Team.

• His sister, Jessie, rows crew for Merrimack College.
