• Martin finished second among defensemen on Swift Current with 37 points (6-31—37) in 72 games, playing alongside Julius Honka (No. 11-ranked North American skater) on the Broncos’ blueline.

• He led all defensemen with nine points (2-7—9) while skating for Team Pacific at the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

• A product of the Calgary minor hockey system, Martin skated for the Calgary Buffaloes of the Alberta AAA Midget Hockey League in 2011-12 and in 2010-11 was named Defenseman of the Year in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League after scoring 42 points (6-36—42) in 31 games for the Calgary Bisons.

• His childhood hockey idol was Hall of Fame defenseman Scott Niedermayer, and his favorite current NHL player is Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues.
