• McLaughlin registered 23-29—52 with the USHL’s Chicago Steel in the 2017-18 regular season (54 GP) and added 3-4—7 in the playoffs (7 GP).

• He represented the United States at the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial (2-1—3 in 4 GP) and in their silver-medal entry at the 2017 World Junior A Challenge (0-4—4 in 5 GP).

• After being selected sixth overall by Chicago in the 2016 USHL Futures Draft out of Grand Rapids High School, the 2016-17 season saw McLaughlin appear in 11 regular-season games and one playoff contest as the Steel captured the Clark Cup.

• He is committed to the University of Minnesota for the 2018-19 season, where his step-father, Grant Bischoff, served as captain in 1990-91. His step-brother, Jake Bischoff, also played for the Golden Gophers and is currently a defenseman with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves.

• Models his style of play after Wild forward Zach Parise and Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane.
