• His father, Derian, was drafted eighth overall in 1990 by Minnesota. He played 1,045 NHL games from 1992 to 2008 (Minnesota, Dallas, Detroit and Philadelphia) and became the first U.S.-born player to captain a team to a Stanley Cup when he helped the Stars win in 1999.
