Puck to face sends Zidlicky to hospital for stitches
NEWARK, N.J. -- New Jersey Devils defenseman Marek Zidlicky had to receive stitches in his lip Wednesday after blocking a pass that caused the puck to deflect into his face.

Zidlicky was defending against Petr Sykora and Dainius Zubrus during practice when the puck ricocheted into his face. Zidlicky was taken to a nearby hospital for the stitches.

The Devils' next game is Thursday in Detroit against the Red Wings.

Quote of the Day

He seemed to thrive on his own and didn't really need any push from me. I certainly don't want to get in the way of the coaches. You see how that goes sometimes. I never really worried about it and just enjoyed the ride.
