After his remarks, President Obama got a first-hand look at Chicago's newest championship ring (they don't easily). When offered to put one on, he showed it to a cheering crowd, which veteran White House press corps members said was the largest NHL-related crowd ever gathered for a White House Stanley Cup celebration.
"Oh, absolutely. I've got to try the ring and everything," said Obama. "That's what you call some bling, right there."
Captain Jonathan Toews stepped forward to present the President with a silver replica of the Stanley Cup complete with engravings.
"Look at this, a mini Stanley. Now, can I say that when I first saw this I thought it so much bigger on TV. But then it turned out it was just a replica. But what a wonderful, wonderful gift this. Thank you so much, team. We are proud of you."
