DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Jan. 19

Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.

Players accumulate points in DraftKings for each goal (3 points), assist (2), shot on goal (0.5), blocked shot (0.5) and shootout goal (0.2). Bonuses are given for shorthanded points (1) and hat tricks (1.5). Goalies accumulate points for each win (3) and save (0.2), and lose a point for each goal allowed. Goalie bonuses are given for a shutout (2) where the goalie completes the entire game with no goals allowed in regulation (and overtime, if applicable). Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout, and goalies will receive points for any goals or assists they score in a game. Penalty minutes, hits, plus-minus and PP points DO NOT count in DraftKings. DraftKings lineups must include nine players (2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G, 1 FLEX) and fit within the $50,000 salary cap.

, C, Toronto Maple Leafs

DraftKings price: $4,500

Komarov leads the Maple Leafs with 16 goals and 30 points through 43 games this season and can be a low-risk difference maker Tuesday at the Philadelphia Flyers. The first-line forward has a goal, assist and six shots on goal in the past three games and has also done well in games preceded by two days rest with a goal, five assists and 11 SOG in five games.

Chris Kreider, W, New York Rangers

DraftKings price: $4,200

Kreider will try to extend his scoring streak to four games when the Rangers host the Vancouver Canucks. The forward has been playing on a strong second line with Rick Nash ($6,900) and Derek Stepan ($5,000) so DraftKings owners could benefit from linking Kreider up with one of those players on an eight-game night. Kreider has produced against Vancouver throughout his career with three goals and 11 SOG in four games.

Shayne Gostisbehere, D, Philadelphia Flyers

DraftKings price: $4,800

The Flyers offer two bargain-priced defensemen against the Maple Leafs with Mark Streit ($4,800) as a runner up to the rookie Gostisbehere. But owners might do better with Gostisbehere since he has gotten more time on the top power-play unit recently and has 10 (five goals, five assists) of his 16 points this season through 11 home games.

Jonas Hiller, G, Calgary Flames

DraftKings price: $6,700

It's always a gamble when selecting a team's backup goaltender but the price is low enough for Hiller to justify the risk. The Flames visit the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. Hiller is 2-2-2 in six starts against the Devils with 146 saves on 160 shots and a 2.29 goals-against average.
