Canadiens emphasizing minor details vs. Bruins
The Montreal Canadiens are focusing on every little thing in preparation for the Boston Bruins at Bell Centre on Wednesday after losing consecutive games in regulation for the second time this season. Montreal has won a pair of 4-2 games against Boston already this season. The teams play again in the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on New Year's Day.

McLellan faces Sharks for first time as Oilers coach
The Edmonton Oilers know the game against San Jose Sharks at Rexall Place on Wednesday is an important one in the standings, but also to their coach. Oilers coach Todd McLellan spent seven seasons in San Jose before going to Edmonton last offseason and is facing his former team for the first time.

Letang likely back for Penguins against Avalanche
Defenseman Kris Letang is expected to return to the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup Wednesday against the Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center after missing two games with an undisclosed injury.

Blue Jackets' Bobrovsky considered day-to-day
Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky is considered day-to-day with an injury sustained Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings and will be re-evaluated Wednesday, coach John Tortorella said.

Islanders forward Clutterbuck day-to-day with injury
New York Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, coach Jack Capuano said Wednesday.
