ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues will go through the day Saturday before deciding whether rookie defenseman Colton Parayko will play against the Detroit Red Wings (8 p.m. ET; FS-D, FS-MW).
Parayko has missed two games with a lower-body injury sustained late in the third period of a victory against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday. He took part in the morning skate Saturday and was paired with Carl Gunnarsson, but coach Ken Hitchcock said not to go on what was seen on the ice.
"Hopefully he gets to play tonight," Hitchcock said. "I'm not sure we'll know until the game-time skate. We'll see how he gets through the rest of the day today."
Parayko, who is among the rookie leaders in points with 12, hopes to play.
"It's something I want to make sure I take care of," Parayko said. "I don't want it to keep lingering on through the season. Hopefully come game time I'm a go and should be good."
The Red Wings, who defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 on Friday, will also look at a game-time decision on rookie right wing Dylan Larkin, who momentarily left the game Friday after hitting a rut in the ice with his right skate and his leg buckled underneath him.
Larkin has scored in three straight games and his seven goals are tied for the Red Wings lead with forward Tomas Tatar. He said the play looked worse than it felt.
"I wasn't that afraid," Larkin said. "I think I just toe-picked. I caught myself. I'll see how it feels at game time, but I plan on playing."
Detroit placed center Landon Ferraro on waivers Saturday. If Ferraro clears, he will be assigned to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.
Ferraro, who has played in 10 games but has missed the past seven with a knee injury, was on the ice with the Red Wings during an optional skate Saturday.
"We have more players than numbers and we have to make a decision to try to send somebody potentially through waivers, so we decided on him," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said.
