CALGARY -- The Chicago Blackhawks will be without forward Marko Dano because of an illness Friday as they continue a six-game road trip against the Calgary Flames (7-12-1) at Scotiabank Saddledome (9 p.m. ET; CSN-CH, SNW).
"He's not feeling good today," Blackhawks (11-7-1) coach Joel Quenneville said.
Dano participated in Chicago's optional practice Thursday but did not skate with the team Friday. Andrew Shaw will replace Dano on a line with Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa.
"[Shaw] gives us some offense; gives us some personality on the line as well," Quenneville said. "Playing against top lines and top defense so there's always important shifts as far as both sides of the puck, and I think he can add something to that line to get some consistency in that line. That's what we're looking for."
Shaw has two goals and five points in 19 games this season.
"I'm going to work hard, go to the net, go to the dirty areas, win puck battles and do whatever got me here," he said.
The Blackhawks also will be without forward Teuvo Teravainen, who sustained an upper-body injury in a 4-3 overtime win against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday, which started Chicago's annual "Circus Trip." Teravainen is expected to miss a couple of games.
Andrew Desjardins, who has been a healthy scratch the past three games, is expected to take Teravainen's spot in the lineup.
"I just have to stay mentally prepared and just stay focused on what's made me successful and try to do that when I get back in," Desjardins said. "I'm going to try to be that aggressive, hard-nosed guy that I can be and just to help out the team as much as I can to get a win."
The Blackhawks already hold one victory against the Flames this week, winning 4-1 at United Center on Sunday.
Calgary coach Bob Hartley singled out the loss in a stretch where he's seen improvement from his team.
"We definitely have adjustments to make," Hartley said. "We've worked on certain parts in practice. At the same time, over the past 10 games that was the game where we didn't really execute it the way that we wanted. We can talk about adjustments all that we want, but it's about playing our game. We've played quite a few very good games in the past 10 games and that's what we want to build on."
Calgary is 2-3-0 in its past five games but has won three straight at Scotiabank Saddledome.
"There's good energy in the rink and the guys are feeling great about themselves," Hartley said. "Right now, in our situation, it's not about the big picture. It's all about one game at a time. I know it sounds cliché but that's the way that it is."
