DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Nov. 14

Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.

Players accumulate points in DraftKings for each goal (3 points), assist (2), shot on goal (0.5), blocked shot (0.5) and shootout goal (0.2). Bonuses are given for shorthanded points (1) and hat tricks (1.5). Goalies accumulate points for each win (3) and save (0.2), and lose a point for each goal allowed. Goalie bonuses are given for a shutout (2) where the goalie completes the entire game with no goals allowed in regulation (and overtime, if applicable). Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout, and goalies will receive points for any goals or assists they score in a game. Penalty minutes, hits, plus-minus and PP points DO NOT count in DraftKings. DraftKings lineups must include nine players (2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G, 1 FLEX) and fit within the $50,000 salary cap.

NOTE: These picks only include players from the 12-game night schedule. This does not include players from the 1 p.m. ET New York Rangers at Ottawa Senators game.

Leon Draisaitl, C, Edmonton Oilers

DraftKings price: $3,400

Recently, no one in the NHL has been a stronger fantasy play than Draisaitl as the second-year center is averaging 1.57 points per game (four goals, seven assists) in 11 games with the Oilers after being recalled from the team’s American Hockey League affiliate Bakersfield Condors on Oct. 29. Currently skating on Edmonton’s top line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Taylor Hall, Draisaitl will try for a three-game point streak with a goal and three assists in the past two games. DraftKings owners should select Draisaitl at the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday (10 p.m. ET; CBC, Sportsnet) based on his goal and three assists in three road games this season.

Max Domi, W, Arizona Coyotes

DraftKings price: $5,400

Domi is an early contender for the Calder Memorial Trophy as NHL rookie of the year with a rookie-leading eight goals in 16 games. Domi should be a sound selection when the Coyotes visit the Columbus Blue Jackets as Columbus is averaging 3.52 goals against in 17 games this season. Additionally, Domi has three goals, one assist, two blocked shots and six shots on goals in the past three games and has been stellar on the road this season with five goals, five assists, two blocked shots and 18 shots on goal in nine games.

Justin Faulk, D, Carolina Hurricanes

DraftKings price: $5,700

Faulk has averaged 3.43 shots on goal and 1.12 blocked shots in 16 games this season which, based on those numbers, equates to 2.27 DraftKings points per game. Considering that Faulk has played well recently with two goals, one assist, two blocked shots and nine shots on goal in the past three games; DraftKings owners can get a good return when the Hurricanes host the Philadelphia Flyers. Faulk has four of his six goals in seven games at home this season along with two assists and 27 shots on goal at PNC Arena.

Antti Niemi or Kari Lehtonen, G, Dallas Stars

DraftKings price: Niemi ($6,900), Lehtonen ($6,900)

When choosing a goaltender, goal support is the most important statistic to consider in DraftKings contests. How many goals is staked to a respective goalie gives owners the greatest opportunity at gaining the most fantasy points via a win. The Stars goalies have gotten the most support through 17 games this season with Dallas averaging 3.65 goals per game. Owners will have to see if Stars coach Lindy Ruff goes with Niemi or Lehtonen against the Minnesota Wild, but either goalie should provide tremendous value given that the Stars lead the Western Conference with 26 points (all from wins) through 17 games this season.
