DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Nov. 15

Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.

Players accumulate points in DraftKings for each goal (3 points), assist (2), shot on goal (0.5), blocked shot (0.5) and shootout goal (0.2). Bonuses are given for shorthanded points (1) and hat tricks (1.5). Goalies accumulate points for each win (3) and save (0.2), and lose a point for each goal allowed. Goalie bonuses are given for a shutout (2) where the goalie completes the entire game with no goals allowed in regulation (and overtime, if applicable). Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout, and goalies will receive points for any goals or assists they score in a game. Penalty minutes, hits, plus-minus and PP points DO NOT count in DraftKings. DraftKings lineups must include nine players (2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G, 1 FLEX) and fit within the $50,000 salary cap.

Oscar Lindberg
C, New York Rangers

DraftKings price: $3,600

Lindberg is tied for third with Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid among NHL rookie scoring leaders with 12 points (seven goals, five assists) through 17 games while averaging 12:39 of ice time. There is no doubt that Lindberg makes the most of his third-line minutes and he can be the key to a successful DraftKings team on a two-game night. Lindberg should be a good selection against the Toronto Maple Leafs at home Sunday (7 p.m. ET; NHL Network, Sportsnet). He has four of his seven goals and three of his five assists in 10 games at Madison Square Garden, along with nine blocked shots and 16 shots on goal at home.

Teuvo Teravainen, W, Chicago Blackhawks

DraftKings price: $4,200

A light game night makes it a bit tricky when selecting value picks in DraftKings. Though the obvious choice from the Blackhawks on Sunday against the Calgary Flames would be red-hot rookie Artemi Panarin ($5,300); it is likely that he will be taken by a majority of owners, which makes his performance less effective fantasy-wise. Instead, take a chance on second-year forward Teravainen, who will look to establish a three-game assist streak and seek to continue his strong play at home with all four of his goals coming in 10 games at United Center.

Kris Russell, D, Calgary Flames

DraftKings price: $4,500

The formula for choosing Russell is quite simple: The Flames defenseman leads the NHL with 67 blocked shots in 18 games and the Blackhawks, Calgary's opponent Sunday, are near the top of the League with an average of 31.2 shots on goal through 17 games. Though Russell has one goal and one assist in 18 games, both points came on the road. Additionally, Russell has been much better, offensively, in his career against Chicago with three goals, 11 assists, 56 blocked shots and 36 shots on goal in 34 games.

Antti Raanta, G, New York Rangers

DraftKings price: $7,500

It’s rare that a Rangers backup goaltender gets to play at Madison Square Garden when starter Henrik Lundqvist is healthy, but Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said Saturday that Raanta will receive his third home start of the season Sunday against Toronto after Lundqvist won in a 2-1 shootout Saturday at the Ottawa Senators. Raanta has been near perfect this season with a 3-0-0 record, 83 saves on 85 shots, an 0.67 goals-against average and a shutout in three starts. The Finnish goaltender shut out the Maple Leafs in his only start against them on Dec. 21, 2014 as a member of the Blackhawks.
