DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Nov. 12

Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.

Players accumulate points in DraftKings for each goal (3 points), assist (2), shot on goal (0.5), blocked shot (0.5) and shootout goal (0.2). Bonuses are given for shorthanded points (1) and hat tricks (1.5). Goalies accumulate points for each win (3) and save (0.2), and lose a point for each goal allowed. Goalie bonuses are given for a shutout (2) where the goalie completes the entire game with no goals allowed in regulation (and overtime, if applicable). Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout, and goalies will receive points for any goals or assists they score in a game. Penalty minutes, hits, plus-minus and PP points DO NOT count in DraftKings. DraftKings lineups must include nine players (2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G, 1 FLEX) and fit within the $50,000 salary cap.

Martin Hanzal, C, Arizona Coyotes

DraftKings price: $4,300

Hanzal is quietly tied for seventh in the NHL in points per game (1.15) among those with a minimum of 10 games played, and he finally got into the goal-scoring flow Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings. He has points in three of four games since returning from injury on Nov. 5, and his shots on goal volume is picking up (13 in past three games). He's a top-unit power-play guy for Arizona and is averaging nearly the same DraftKings points per game (3.8) as Nicklas Backstrom of the Washington Capitals (3.9), who's going for $2,500 more. If you have a bit more to spend, other value targets among center-eligible players include the Buffalo Sabres' Jack Eichel ($5,400) and Matt Duchene of the Colorado Avalanche ($5,200; pair with Nathan MacKinnon).

Jannik Hansen, W, Vancouver Canucks

DraftKings price: $3,300

Hansen is playing on the top line with Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin and busted out for four points in their win Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Canucks now venture north to face the Ottawa Senators, who are tied for the fourth-most goals allowed per game (3.13) this season. Spend your money elsewhere and take a chance on stacking Hansen and Henrik Sedin ($4,800) for an affordable total price of $8,100.

Rasmus Ristolainen, D, Buffalo Sabres

DraftKings price: $4,300

There are a bunch of Swedish defensemen who are value picks on this night (i.e. Victor Hedman of the Tampa Bay Lightning, John Klingberg of the Dallas Stars, Oscar Klefbom of the Edmonton Oilers), but you shouldn't forget to roster Finland native Ristolainen, who has at least a goal in back-to-back games for the Sabres with a combined eight SOG in that span. On the season, this 21-year-old has eight points, 26 blocked shots and an impressive 41 SOG, which is tied for eighth among NHL defensemen. He faces the Florida Panthers, who have been solid at home (4-2-1) but are allowing the fifth-most SOG per game (31.9) this season.

Kari Lehtonen, G, Dallas Stars

DraftKings price: $6,800

Lehtonen is expected to get the start for Dallas, who could use a bounce-back showing at home against the Winnipeg Jets after losing to the Toronto Maple Leafs for the second time this season -- Antti Niemi was in net for both losses. Lehtonen is 6-1-0 with 15 goals allowed on the season and has allowed only two goals on 53 shots faced in his past two games combined. He ranks 25th on the goalie price scale because he's in a timeshare role with the Stars, but Dallas' offense and power play rank second in the League and give him a great chance at the DraftKings win bonus every night out.
