Center Clayton Keller, an A-rated prospect on NHL Central Scouting's September players to watch list, had a goal and an assist to lead the United States to a 3-1 victory against the Czech Republic on Wednesday in round robin play in the 2015 Five Nations Tournament at Patinoire de Monthey in Switzerland.
Keller assisted on a goal by Kieffer Bellows in the first period to give the United States a 1-0 lead. Bellows, the son of former NHL player Brian Bellows, is also an A-rated prospect on Central Scouting's September watch list.
Keller, who leads USA Hockey's Under-18 National Team Development Program with 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) in 13 games this season, scored a power-play goal 16:05 into the second to give the United States a 2-1 lead. Defenseman Chad Krys, a B-rated skater, was recognized as the best player of the game for the U.S.
Goaltender Jake Oettinger made 19 saves for the United States. Czech Republic goalie Josef Korenar, a C-rated player on NHL Central Scouting's September players to watch list for international players, made 35 saves.
The U.S. National Under-18 Team continues round-robin play Thursday against Sweden at 2:30 p.m. ET.
