Oilers' McDavid sustains broken clavicle, out months
The Edmonton Oilers will be without center Connor McDavid indefinitely after the No. 1 selection in the 2015 NHL Draft fractured his left clavicle Tuesday in a 4-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers. McDavid is scheduled to have surgery Wednesday and will be out months, according to Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli.
New Blackhawks to get first taste of Blues rivalry
The Chicago Blackhawks will have six players facing the St. Louis Blues for the first time in the regular season when they play Wednesday. Joel Quenneville has experience on both sides of the rivalry as a coach, and knows how physically taxing it can be for players on both benches.

Higgins debuts, Sutter faces ex-mates as Canucks host Pens
Versatile Vancouver Canucks left wing Chris Higgins is back from a broken foot to make his season debut against Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday. Higgins debuts alongside 19-year-old right wing Jake Virtanen and center Brandon Sutter, who plays his first game against Pittsburgh since being traded to Vancouver in the summer.
