At the Rink: Stars at Bruins

BOSTON -- A foot injury will keep forward David Pastrnak out of the Boston Bruins lineup against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday at TD Garden (7 p.m. ET; FS-SW+, NESN).

Pastrnak was hit by a shot from teammate Joe Morrow against the Arizona Coyotes on Oct. 27. Pastrnak played less than his usual ice time in the third period of that game. He played the Bruins' past two games but only had 7:41 of ice time against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.

This season Pastrnak, the 25th pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, has two goals and two assists in 10 games.

"We're just giving David a little bit more time there," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "He's still feeling that shot he got in the foot. So we're going to give him a little bit more time to heal here. He's not feeling 100 percent comfortable."

The Bruins called up forward Alexander Khokhlachev, the 40th pick in 2011, from Providence of the American Hockey League to replace Pastrnak. During the morning skate, Khokhlachev skated in Pastrnak's usual spot on right wing next to center David Krejci and opposite left wing Loui Eriksson.

Although Khokhlachev has played in four NHL games over the past two seasons, this will be the 22-year-old's first chance to play a top-six role. It's fortuitous that Khokhlachev, a natural center, recently started playing on the wing. He's tied for the AHL lead in points with 13.

"Yeah, I feel comfortable [at wing]," Khokhlachev said. "I played like 10 games back in Providence. So I feel good.

A Stars visit to Boston always means the return of former Bruins forward Tyler Seguin, the second pick in 2010. Seguin, part of a 2013 trade in which the Bruins acquired Eriksson, has five goals and 12 assists this season.

The Stars did not hold a morning skate after arriving here late Monday after a 4-1 road loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Stars had won three in a row. Stars coach Lindy Ruff was frustrated by some breakdowns.

"We missed some opportunities to turn the momentum," Ruff told the Dallas Morning News. “But when you hand a team a couple of goals on missed assignments, I don't think at the end of the night you deserve to win."

Status report: Lehtonen hasn't played since Oct. 24 but is expected to start the second half of Dallas' back-to-back. … Seidenberg continues to skate with the Bruins. However, he hasn't taken contact. This marks six weeks since his back surgery. The original prognosis was a return in eight weeks.

Who's hot: Jamie Benn was the NHL First Star for October. He has at least one point in four of his past five games and leads the League with 18 points. … Krejci was the Third Star of October. He had a nine-game point streak end Saturday but leads the Bruins with 15 points.
