Predators sign Mattias Ekholm to six-year contract
The Nashville Predators have signed defenseman Mattias Ekholm to a six-year, $22.5 million contract, with an average annual value of $3.75 million.

Sabres' Kane to miss 4-6 weeks with knee injury 
Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane will miss 4-6 weeks with an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. The injury will not require surgery.

Kuznetsov, Markov and Quick named stars of week
Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov and Kings goalie Jonathan Quick named NHL 'Three Stars' of the week. Kuznetsov paced the NHL with six assists and nine points – and also shared the League lead with a +5 rating – as the Capitals (6-1-0, 12 points) won all three of their games.

Red Wings defenseman Green out 2-3 weeks
Mike Green will be out 2-3 weeks because of an upper-body injury, Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told MLive.com on Monday. Green was injured in the first period Friday against the Calgary Flames and sat out the game Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks.

Ducks hope Wagner can give boost vs. Blackhawks 
Anaheim hopes rookie forward Chris Wagner, recalled from the AHL on Monday, can provide a spark against the Blackhawks, who the Ducks face for the first time since they lost them in the Western Conference Final.
