Blue Jackets hire Tortorella to replace Richards
John Tortorella was named the new coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday after the club fired Todd Richards.

Blues' Stastny placed on IR because of broken foot
St. Louis Blues forward Paul Stastny was placed on injured reserve Wednesday because of a broken right foot and will be re-evaluated in five weeks.

Flames goaltender Ramo placed on waivers
Goaltender Karri Ramo was placed on waivers by the Calgary Flames on Wednesday. Ramo is 0-3-0 with a 4.37 goals-against average and .879 save percentage in three games.

Bruins' Beleskey out, Bergeron in against Flyers
Boston Bruins forward Matt Beleskey is out but forward Patrice Bergeron will play Wednesday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Maple Leafs defenseman Gardiner out vs. Sabres
Toronto Maple Leafs Jake Gardiner will not play Wednesday against the Buffalo Sabres because of an undisclosed injury and is listed as day-to-day.

Senators' Hammond to start Thursday vs. Devils
Ottawa Senators goaltender Andrew Hammond will make his season debut Thursday against the New Jersey Devils.
