At the Rink: Flyers at Bruins

BOSTON -- Boston Bruins forward Matt Beleskey will not play against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday (8 p.m. ET, NBCSN, TVA Sports) at TD Garden because of an upper-body injury.

Center Patrice Bergeron, who did not take the morning skate, will be in the lineup, Bruins president Cam Neely told 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Bergeron was with his wife for the birth of the couple's son, named Zack. After the morning skate coach Claude Julien said Bergeron was questionable for the game because of personal reasons.

His three goals in five games are second on the Bruins.

Boston has won two in a row and still has to make up for the loss of Beleskey, who has one goal and one assist in five games while playing on a line center David Krejci and right wing David Pastrnak.

"It's big," Bruins forward Brad Marchand. "You can't fill guys' spots. You've got to just bear down and work a little bit harder and collectively try and fill their spot. But I think we've just got to know that this team is going to be a tough opponent and we've got to play simple. They can take advantage of any minor mistakes so we've got to play a really good game."

Forward Zac Rinaldo was traded to the Bruins by the Flyers for a third-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft on June 29. This will be his first game against his old team.

"A little more emotion, yeah," said Rinaldo, who has no points and 10 penalty minutes in five games this season. "It's going to be obviously my first time doing this. But no friends on the ice for me. That's the way I've always been, so that's the way it's going to be tonight."

The Flyers had their two-game winning streak snapped by the Dallas Stars in a 2-1 loss at home Tuesday. They still held a morning skate here because of the later start time. The Flyers are 28th in the League with eight goals in five games and are in need of an offensive jolt.

"I think we can improve what we're doing," Flyers coach Dave Hakstol said. "When the puck's not going in the net you've got to simplify things. You've got to make sure you're getting pucks there. But you also have to make sure there's some quality to it in terms of an opportunity for a rebound, getting a body there for a rebound. So simplify things, stay confident and keep doing things the right way."
