The Detroit Red Wings placed forward Pavel Datsyuk on injured reserve Sunday.
Datsyuk had ankle surgery June 26 and is projected to return in early November. He had 26 goals and 65 points in 63 games last season, and three goals and five points in seven games against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference First Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Defensemen Danny DeKeyser (retroactive to Sept. 30) and Alexey Marchenko (lower body, retroactive to Sept. 28), and forward Darren Helm (concussion/shoulder, retroactive to Sept. 18) were also placed on IR. DeKeyser will miss 3-4 weeks with a sprained ligament in his left foot.
Forward Anthony Mantha, the 20th pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, was one of 11 players sent to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. The Red Wings roster stands at 27 players including forward Dylan Larkin, the 15th pick in the 2014 draft.
