Nugent-Hopkins leaves after taking puck in face

Edmonton Oilers center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins avoided serious injury after getting hit in the face with a puck during training camp on Saturday.

Nugent-Hopkins left practice and did not return; he wasn't available to the media afterward.

"He took a puck to the face. No lacerations but a nice welt and we just kept him out for the rest of the day and we will see how he is in the morning but we don't anticipate any issues," Oilers coach Todd McLellan told the team website.

McLellan and forward Jordan Eberle don't believe the injury is serious or will cause Nugent-Hopkins to miss any time.

"I saw his face after; I didn't see what happened," Eberle said. "I know he took a puck in the face but as far as I know he is fine. He has a little bit of a bruise."
