Chicago Blackhawks president and CEO John McDonough spent Thursday with the Stanley Cup on the campus of St. Mary's University in Winona, Minn.
McDonough, a 1975 graduate of Saint Mary's, also took the Cup to his alma mater after the Blackhawks won it in 2013.
"When John McDonough chose to share the Stanley Cup with the Saint Mary's community and the public in Winona in 2013, we were grateful and honored," Brother William Mann, president of Saint Mary’s, told the Winona Daily News. "We are even more excited to welcome him back for a second opportunity to celebrate his achievements. John has demonstrated leadership characteristics we hope to instill in our students. We're thankful he's not only bringing the Cup but also sharing an important message about how to inspire others to greatness."
McDonough, a Chicago native, earlier this summer took the Stanley Cup to his boyhood neighborhood of Edison Park, Ill., where a street was renamed in his honor, and to his suburban hometown of Elk Grove Village.
McDonough joined the Blackhawks in 2007 and was named president and CEO in June 2011. He previously was president of the Chicago Cubs.
