Desjardins uses Cup to fulfill promise

Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Desjardins spent part of his second day with the Stanley Cup fulfilling a promise.

After the Blackhawks won the Cup, he said the first thing he would eat out of it would be Lucky Charms cereal. Mission accomplished.

Desjardins filled the Cup with the cereal and milk, then had quite the breakfast Tuesday in Ontario.

Desjardins and his wife also brought the Cup for a surprise visit to Health Sciences North Hospital and the pediatric unit in Sudbury, Ontario.

On Monday, Desjardins held a parade in his hometown of Lively, Ontario, and took the Cup to a playground and Tom Davies Arena, where people lined up to take pictures and get his autograph. Desjardins and his wife also put their infant son in the Cup and took a photo.

Desjardins was traded to Chicago on March 2 and became a staple on the fourth line with Marcus Kruger and Andrew Shaw during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He agreed to a two-year, $1.6 million contract with the Blackhawks last week.
