Shaw brings Cup to Wellness Centre in Ontario

Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw spent Saturday morning on a lake with the Stanley Cup in his hometown of Belleville, Ontario, before bringing the Cup into town for fans to see.

In the afternoon, Shaw brought the Cup to the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, where hundreds of people showed up for pictures with Shaw and the Cup. A line formed hours before the Cup was scheduled to be there.

Tom Cassibo was among more than 2,000 fans who showed up to shake Shaw's hand, stand beside the Cup and have their picture taken. Cassibo said it was worth the wait.

"I've been a Chicago Blackhawks fans since I was nine years old," he told the Belleville Intellegencer. "Back when their stars were guys like Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Bill White, Jim Pappin, Pat Stapleton, Chico Maki, Keith Magnuson."

Shaw also took the Cup to Belleville Fire Hall, where members of the fire department and paramedics were in attendance and Shaw, along with the Cup, was raised 100 feet into the air on the back of a fire truck.

Shaw also brought the Cup to Belleville and the Wellness Centre after the Blackhawks won in 2013. In all, the Cup has been to Belleville after four of the past seven seasons: Matt Cooke brought it after the Pittsburgh Penguins won in 2009, and Brad Richardson did the same following the Los Angeles Kings' championship in 2012.
