Injured Rozsival gets to lift Cup at United Center

Michal Rozsival didn't get to enjoy the Chicago Blackhawks' Stanley Cup celebration on the ice Monday, but the injured defenseman got to lift the trophy at United Center on Wednesday.

Rozsival, wearing the Blackhawks' home red uniform, was photographed raising the Cup with his left leg resting on a knee scooter.

Rozsival fractured that ankle in Game 4 the Western Conference Second Round against the Minnesota Wild on May 7 and did not play for the remainder of the season.

"I've been around and enjoying the whole thing," Rozsival told ESPN.com on Wednesday. "It's a great feeling to be around and spending it with the guys, even though I wasn't playing. To be there and kind of celebrating the whole season with the Cup, I've been enjoying it very much."

Chicago won the Cup with a 2-0 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 at United Center.

Rozsival has worn a boot since having surgery May 11 was expected to be able to resume hockey activities in 12-16 weeks. He had one assist in 10 playoff games, averaging 17:26 of ice time.

"All the indications are that I'll be able to heal and recover 100 percent," Rozsival said. "That's what I'm kind of banking [on], that's what I'm doing, rehabbing."

Rozsival, 36, will be an unrestricted free agent July 1 but said he wants to return to the Blackhawks, where he has played since 2012-13 and won the Stanley Cup twice.

"I'm hoping to be back and playing again next year somewhere," he said. "Of course, I hope it can be here. I don't know if it's going to happen, definitely hoping. This is definitely the place to play. I won two Cups here. I waited a long time to get my first one, and all of a sudden I have two in three years playing here. I'd definitely like to be here if it's at all possible. We'll see what happens."
