Top scorer Corey Perry returns to practice for Ducks

ANAHEIM -- Anaheim Ducks right wing Corey Perry participated in practice Friday and said he will be ready to play in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday (3 p.m. ET; NBC, CBC, TVA Sports).

"It was good," Perry said. "It was exciting. I was excited. Everything went well. It was great to get on the ice again."

Perry sustained an apparent leg injury when he collided with Matt Stajan of the Calgary Flames in the second period of Game 5 of their second-round series Sunday. Perry hobbled off the ice and went to the trainer's room but returned and scored the series-winning goal in overtime.

Perry did not skate the four days previous to Friday and said he benefitted from the rest.

"The next couple of days, it did what it did," Perry said. "But everything was good. Everything was fine and we're moving on and I'll be ready.

"Every day it's getting better. That's all I really have."

Perry leads the Stanley Cup Playoffs with 15 points in nine games, and the Ducks were glad to have him back.

"Obviously the last couple of days he's been able to rest and get his legs back under him," captain Ryan Getzlaf said.

Perry turns 30 on Saturday and Getzlaf joked about not getting his longtime linemate a present.

"Nothing," Getzlaf said. "Same thing he got me."

Perry said of not getting Getzlaf anything for his 30th birthday earlier in the week, "He doesn't need anything. Leave it at that."
