GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- New York Rangers defenseman Dan Boyle practiced Friday, less than 48 hours after he was injured in the third period of Game 7 against the Washington Capitals, and is expected to play Saturday in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning (1 p.m. ET; NBC, CBC, TVA Sports).
"All good," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said when asked about Boyle's status.
Boyle left Game 7 with 9:26 remaining in the third period after he was hit hard in the head area by Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik. Boyle tried to get up twice but couldn't. He was able to skate off the ice but did not return to the game.
Boyle was skating with usual defense partner Marc Staal in practice Friday. Boyle did not speak to the media.
Left wing Tanner Glass didn't practice because of a maintenance day. Vigneault said Glass should be able to play Saturday. Glass has played in all 12 games of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"At this time I would say yes," Vigneault said. "Today was an extra maintenance day, so unless something changes from now until tomorrow afternoon I would say yes."
Vigneault said injured right wing Mats Zuccarello has started working out but isn't skating. Zuccarello sustained an upper-body injury in Game 5 of the first round against the Pittsburgh Penguins and missed the entire series against Washington.
Vigneault did not rule out his return in the conference final.
"There is always hope," Vigneault said.
Here is the Rangers' projected lineup for Game 1:
Rick Nash - Derick Brassard - Martin St. Louis
Chris Kreider - Derek Stepan - Jesper Fast
Carl Hagelin - Dominic Moore - Kevin Hayes
Tanner Glass - James Sheppard - J.T. Miller
Injured: Mats Zuccarello (upper body)
Scratched: Ryan Bourque, Matt Hunwick, Chris Summers
