MONTREAL -- Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper wasn't in a sympathetic mood Saturday.

He was asked if he felt bad for the Montreal Canadiens after Tampa Bay's goal for a 2-1, Game 1 victory in double overtime was scored following what Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said was a missed offside on the zone entry.

Replays suggested Therrien was right. It looked like Lightning forward Valtteri Filppula entered the zone before Brian Boyle carried the puck over the blue line. Tampa Bay forward Nikita Kucherov scored 12 seconds later.

"It's sports. There's humans involved," Cooper said. "Everybody is trying to do their best. I've been on both ends. I've been on both ends in this building.

"Sympathies? Do you try and draw it up so play is completely clean and everything goes right? Sure you do. All I know, it's out of our hands; we're up 1-0 and we're going to take it. We're not giving that one back."

Therrien said the Canadiens put the call behind them and were choosing to focus on the good things they did going into Game 2 on Sunday (6 p.m. ET; CBC, TVA Sports, NBCSN).

They outshot the Lightning 44-35 and hit two posts in the first period.

"We moved on," Therrien said. "For sure, when it just happened, it's a normal reaction for a coach and for the coaching staff. You think your players deserve better because of the effort they put [in]. The fans deserved better, but we have to move on, and this is what we're doing.

"There are a lot of good things we did [Friday] night that we really liked. This is important for us. We were well-prepared to play that game, we knew exactly how the Lightning was playing. Our players were sharp, and [Sunday] night it won't be any different."

Cooper said he had no update on the condition of Tampa Bay forward Tyler Johnson, who leads the playoffs with seven goals. Cooper said he hadn't talked to Johnson before he met with the media Saturday evening.

Johnson was cross-checked by Montreal forward Brendan Gallagher at 5:16 the third period and went to the dressing room, but returned to finish game.

He played 10 shifts in the first overtime and one in the second overtime, before Kucherov scored to end it at 2:06.
