ARLINGTON, Va. -- Washington Capitals forward Eric Fehr will not play in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference First Round series against the New York Islanders at Verizon Center on Monday (7:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, TVA Sports 2, MSG+, CSN-DC), Capitals coach Barry Trotz said. The Capitals cancelled practice Sunday but Fehr skated for the first time since April 19.
Fehr has missed the past three Stanley Cup Playoff games because of an upper-body injury he sustained in Game 3. He initially was expected to miss two games.
If Washington advances to the second round, Fehr will be ready to play, Trotz said Sunday.
A healthy scratch for the past three games, forward Curtis Glencross is expected to return to Washington's lineup.
"I would say that there's a good chance that you'll see him in [Monday]," Trotz said.
Glencross was held without a point in the first three games. Dating to the regular season, Glencross has one assist, in his past 14 games. In his first seven games with the Capitals after being acquired in a trade with the Calgary Flames, he had four goals and two assists.
"I think in the playoffs you can't wait for people to hopefully produce," Trotz said April 21. "You either get it done or you move people up. That's what we talked about going in. There's no time to wait for people to get their game in order."
Andre Burakovsky was one of the players that was moved up but could be scratched for Game 7 to make room for Glencross. Burakovsky has no points in three playoff games.
Burakovsky has played at left wing on Washington's third and fourth lines. Glencross could replace Burakovsky on the third line or take Brooks Laich's place on the fourth line if Trotz decides to shuffle the lineup.
Since the Capitals didn't skate Sunday following a 2-1 Game 6 loss on Saturday, there was no indication of any other changes to the lineup ahead of Game 7.
"It's an opportunity for both teams to close out another team," Trotz said. "Whoever's willing to put more on the line will come out with a victory."
