Lightning could get Coburn back for Game 1

Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Braydon Coburn is a possibility to return for the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"I don't know if it's a foregone conclusion yet," Coburn, who sustained a lower-body injury March 10 against the Montreal Canadiens that was expected to sideline him 4-6 weeks, told the Lightning website.

Coach Jon Cooper termed Coburn questionable to probable for Game 1 of their Eastern Conference First Round series against the Detroit Red Wings, set for Thursday at Amalie Arena (7:30 p.m. ET; CNBC, SN, TVA Sports 2, FS-D, FS-F).

Coburn attended an optional skate Tuesday wearing a regular practice jersey, as did defenseman Andrej Sustr and forward Alex Killorn, who aim to return for the series opener. Sustr missed the final six games of the regular season with an upper-body injury. Killorn missed the final three games with an undisclosed injury.

Defenseman Jason Garrison, who missed the final six games with an upper-body injury, is still wearing a no-contact jersey at practice.

Defenseman Luke Witkowski was reassigned to Syracuse of the American Hockey League.
